When most people think of Miami – they think of this cool and trendy city that never sleeps and has no place for kids. But, that’s not true. While there’s certainly a nightlife scene, there are also plenty of family friendly things to enjoy as well. And what’s even better is- you can enjoy them all year long.
Wynwood Walls
Think of it as an outdoor art museum where kids are free to run around while also checking out colorful wall murals created by various talented artists around the world. It’s visually appealing, good exercise for the whole family and even a unique photo opportunity. Plus, it is located nearby many local restaurants and shops also. Wynwood Walls is a free experience. However, you can also choose to pay for both public and private tours.
Venetian Pool
About 30 minutes from Wynwood Walls, you can take a dip in the Venetian Pool located in Coral Gables. It’s been a top tourist attraction since the late 1920’s when it was first opened. It’s not like any other pool you’ve been in. It has over 800 gallons of fresh spring water, waterfalls and even a cave-like grotto for swimmers to explore.
Zoo Miami
Established in 1948 (originally as Miami Metro Zoo), Zoo Miami is now Florida’s largest zoo. It spans across 750 acres of land and has thousands of animals for guests to view. There is also playgrounds, splash pads, interactive activities, animal feedings and so much more including: one river ride, a monorail, and several pedal boats. There is even a safari tour.
Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum
If you’re looking for another whole day of fun, you will surely discover it at this STEM Museum. In addition to its four different buildings, there is also an aquarium and planetarium on the property. Curious explorers are free to view the aquarium from down below as well as up above on the observation deck.
