Galveston Island State Park
Texas and beaches might not be the first thing that pops into your mind. But, rest assured, some of the best Gulf Coast beaches are nestled in the Lone Star State. Galveston offers up over 32 miles of beaches, but Galveston Island State Park is one of the best.
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
If you love deep sea fishing, head to Alabama. Here, tucked along over 30 miles of white sandy beaches you’ll find some of the best deep sea fishing areas in the Gulf. If you prefer relaxation, Orange Beach has some of the most scenic views in the area with sparkling blue water reaching just beyond the sand dunes.
St. George Island
When local Floridians tell you they have a favorite secret beach, you sit up and listen. For residents of the panhandle, St. George’s Island often tops the list. This barrier island is a part nature reserve and home to wild seabirds and dolphins. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a few loggerhead sea turtles.
West Ship Island
Sure, you can spend your time catching up on your summer reads at the beach. Or, you can do a little bit of exploring. Part of the Gulf Shores National Seashore, Mississippi’s West Ship Island is home to Fort Massachusetts. Built in the mid-1800s, it stood to protect the area from invading navies.
Panama City Beach
Sometimes a beach vacation is all about having a little fun. That means you’re not only counting on the beaches to be great, but the area should also have lots of nightlife and fun too. Well, welcome to Panama City Beach. This Spring Break mecca is full of life all year round with plenty to keep you busy.
Grand Isle
If party going isn’t your style and you’re more into getting up close and personal with wildlife at your doorstep, consider Grand Isle, Louisiana. This barrier island hosts seven beaches and is home to a state park as well. For aspiring fishermen, there is a popular fishing pier where you can drop a line.
Siesta Key
Florida has miles and miles of amazing beaches, but Siesta Key made it to the top of some “Best Beaches” lists and hasn’t looked back. A barrier island right off Sarasota, Siesta Key is a prime spot to enjoy water sports like paddle boarding and jet skis while offering all the conveniences of home.
