From San Diego to Sacramento, there’s a whole lot of places to enjoy a glass of white, red, or rosé. Here are some of our favorites.
Napa and Sonoma
As a veritable mecca of wine not only in California but in the entire United States, you can’t go wrong with any of the wineries here. In Napa, some of the most popular include Hendry Winery, Ackerman Family Vineyards, and Monticello Vineyards.
Over in Sonoma, make a visit to Three Sticks Wines, Buena Vista Winery, or Westwood Estate Wines. For a one-of-a-kind experience, head to Winery Sixteen 600 Tasting House, a reservation-only establishment that offers comparative tastings of organic wines. And of course, one of the best ways to experience the wineries in this region is with a tour. Check out Napa Valley Wine Country Tours, or if you’re feeling adventurous, California Wine Country Jeep Tours.
San Francisco
Who says you have to go to Napa for some vino? While it’s far more urban, San Fran has its share of wineries, too. Bluxome Street Winery, The Winery SF, and Chateau Montelena Winery Tasting Room to name a few.
At Dogpatch Wineworks, amateur winemakers can crush their own grapes and make their own varieties of wine. Afterward, they are invited to share their creations in the tasting lounge.
Los Angeles
Of course, the epicenter of glitz and glam has a variety of places to sip and savor all kinds of wine. The family-owned San Antonio Winery, which has been in business since 1917, offers tours and tastings as well as a restaurant. In nearby Burbank, you’ll find the Urban Press Winery, a popular blending winery with a tasting room, live entertainment, and an outdoor patio.
San Diego
The always-warm, always-sunny, coastal city of San Diego has a lot to offer in the wine department. Bernardo Winery, Gianni Buonomo Vintners, Blue Door Urban Winery, and San Pasqual Winery are just some of the spots. Pali Wine Co. is another popular option, as it features a tasting room with small plates and wine flights, plus a rooftop deck.
