August 10th might be just another day for you. But for S’more’s lovers, it’s pretty much the best day of the year: National S’mores Day!
The s’more is a true American treat. Almost every kid has sat around a campfire with a pile of marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers excited to have a ready made dessert.
If it’s been a while since you’ve had a s’more, well, there’s no day better than today.
And, you don’t even need to sit around a campfire to recreate those happy feelings from your childhood.
In this post, we’re going to share a few National S’mores Day recipes anyone will love.
Everyone loves a brownie, but you can make a simple box kit even better by adding s’mores-ifyizing them! All you have to do is take your favorite boxed brownie mix (or make from scratch if you prefer) and mix in chocolate chips.
Then just a few minutes before the brownies should come out of the oven, sprinkle mini marshmallows and graham cracker bits over the top to finish them off.
Caramel Apple S’mores
Want to add a bit of fruit to your s’mores? Check out caramel apple s’mores. Combine your traditional ingredients with caramel and sliced granny smith apples. Once you’ve got all the supplies ready, you want to make stacks.
Use the graham cracker as the base, a spread of chocolate, an apple slice, a spread of marshmallow (or marshmallow creme) and a drizzle of caramel. Yum!
Start with a graham cracker crust. You can make your own by combining graham crackers, eggs, butter, vanilla, flour, baking powder and salt in a stand mixer. Then put this mixture into a standard brownie pan.
Next, add a layer of cholate (you can use candy bars for ease) and a layer of marshmallows. Crumble a few more graham crackers on the top and bake until the marshmallows start to brown.
Want to feed a hungry crowd a more sophisticated dessert that will remind them of their childhood days? You can’t go wrong with s’mores pizza. Roll out pizza dough to your desired size and precook it for about 5 minutes in the oven.
Then add white and dark chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers. Put it back in the oven for another 5 minutes, let it cool for a bit, and you’re good to go!
Mini S’Mores Dips
Let’s face it, s’mores can get a bit messy. But, if you still want to serve these and keep everyone clean, consider mini s’mores dips. Take each graham cracker and break them in half. While you’re doing that, melt some chocolate in a pan (or in a bowl in the microwave).
As the chocolate is melting, spread marshmallow creme on your cracker halves, combine them and then dip half the ‘sandwich’ in your melted chocolate.
These are just a few ideas you’ll be sure to love. But, remember, you don’t have to wait for National S’Mores Day to come to enjoy having s’mores year round!
