The Peace Center
The Peace Center is a multipurpose arts center that serves as a cultural hub within the city. It houses an amphitheater, theater, and concert hall that host everything from touring Broadway productions to intimate shows with singer-songwriters and poetry readings.
Artisphere
This awesome arts festival only happens once a year, but it’s well worth planning a visit around it. Held annually in May, the 2019 installment will take place from May 10-12, and allows visitors to meet and chat with artists they admire.
Greenville County Museum of Art
If you happen to miss Artisphere, don’t fret; the Greenville County Museum of Art will quench your thirst for culture. The focus here is on American art from painters like Andy Warhol, Helen Turner, and Andrew Wyeth.
Dark Corner Distillery
The south is known for its whiskey, and Greenville is home to its own distillery. It produces “The World’s Best Moonshine,” to boot! And yes, that’s the name of their moonshine, but the distillery has received accolades from industry heavyweights like the American Distilling Institute. Stop by for a tasting (or two).
Greenville Zoo
Fun for every kind of animal lover, the Greenville Zoo has everything from African Lions to Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs. It also hosts various ongoing programs, like Wild for Reading Wednesdays, which features a live reading of a children’s book and an animal presentation.
Roper Mountain Science Center
With its butterfly garden, living history farm, natural science exhibits, an observatory, and planetarium, you could easily spend all day taking in the wonders of the scientific world at this popular Greenville attraction. Visit on Friday nights for the Starry Nights program, which shows family-friendly educational entertainment in the 360° immersion dome.
