By Liz Froment • January 4, 2018 • Dining, Places, Travel

Savannah, Georgia is one of the most popular cities in the Southern United States. Dubbed “The Hostess City,” it’s a favorite spot to visit, take in cultural sites, learn a bit of history, and sample some delicious food.

The South as a whole is known for amazing dining options. From smoky bbq to crawfish boils and everything in between, you won’t go hungry here. Is it any wonder so many people flock to Savannah?

In this post, we want to highlight some of the best cheap eats in Savannah. In this city, you can certainly find plenty of delicious options that aren’t going to put a dent in your wallet.

Ready to dig in?

One of the very best things about Savannah is its chock full of gorgeous outdoor parks and squares. So, if you want to enjoy these, you can have a delicious picnic. There’s no better place for a grab and go meal than Zunzi’s Takeout and Catering. The food is South African-inspired, with Italian, Swiss, and Dutch influences. You’ll want to order it again and again.

Wiley’s Championship BBQ

You can’t ever go anywhere in the South without having bbq. That’s a fact. So why not try the excellent (and award-winning) options at Wiley’s Championship BBQ. Choose from all your favorites like pulled pork, burnt ends, and brisket. Don’t forget to add some mac and cheese on the side!

Henry’s Breakfast and Lunch

You know the old saying, right? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And what better way to prepare for a long day of site seeing than having a hearty breakfast! That’s why Henry’s Breakfast and Lunch is one of Savannah’s most popular cheap eats, especially for weekend brunch.

Goose Feathers Cafe and Bakery

Another great breakfast option is Goose Feathers Cafe and Bakery. Located in the historic district, they’ve been serving everything from fresh bagels to their individual cheese grits to locals and travelers alike for years. You can also pop in for dessert, their bread pudding is famous throughout the South.

Vinnie Van Go Go’s

When most people think about cheap eats, the first thing that comes to mind is pizza. And why not? It’s easy to eat anywhere, and it’s always tasty. Without a doubt, the best pizza in Savannah is Vinnie Van Go Go’s which serves New York City-style pizza with a Southern flair.

Savannah Seafood Shack

Savannah is right on the water, so fresh seafood is an integral part of the culinary lifestyle of local residents and visitors alike. Plus, you cannot go to Georgia without trying a famous ‘low country boil;’ a mix of sausage, crab, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. Savannah Seafood Shack serves one of the best around.

When it comes to cheap eats in Savannah, there are plenty of options, but these are some of the best. During your time in Savannah, you won’t go wrong with having a meal at any of these delicious dining spots. Plus, you’ll have a little more in your wallet for your next vacation!
