Charlotte is one of the most popular cities in North Carolina. Since it’s close to big universities, NASCAR, and professional sports teams, Charlotte has always been a great place to visit. As it has grown in popularity, now it’s even better. Each year, there are more and more festivals and events held in Charlotte.
In this post, we want to highlight a few of the festivals and events in Charlotte that you can see all year round. So whether you’re visiting for business, checking out one of the area’s colleges and universities, or stopping by on a road trip, we’ve got you covered.
Let’s take a look.
Queen City Brewer’s Festival
The Queen City Brewer’s Festival is held in late January or early February each year. It brings together dozens of local and national breweries to celebrate beer. This event is hugely popular in and around the Charlotte area. Each year, over 30 breweries participate, and local restaurants got involved too. A nice bonus is that all the proceeds go to support a local Autism awareness charity.
NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star Race Weekend
For NASCAR lovers, Charlotte is the place to be in May. It’s host to both the Coca-Cola 600 Series Race and the NASCAR All-Star Race Weekend. Both of these events are held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. If you want to see your favorite NASCAR drivers up close and personal this is the event to attend. All-Star Weekend showcases both practice and qualifying races plus a full flyover.
Queen’s Cup Steeplechase Race
NASCAR isn’t the only race in town in Charlotte. The Carolina’s love their equestrian events too. One of the biggest is the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase Race. This event is held every year at the end of April and is hugely popular across the country. If you want to attend, be sure to dress the part. The Queen’s Cup is all about the social scene too. So, don’t forget your fancy hats and bowties!
If you’re looking for a new place to celebrate the 4th of July, look no further. Charlotte is home to the Skyshow 4th of July Event. It’s held every year at BB&T Ballpark and features everything from a street festival to a massive fireworks display. The street event begins at 2 pm followed by a baseball game (this year Team USA vs. Cuba) and the fireworks right after. And the best part? You don’t even have to leave your seat!
Festival in the Park
Charlotte’s Festival in the Park is held every year in September and aims to bring music and art awareness to the city. The festival has everything from live big band music to local food vendors and craft displays. If you love spending an afternoon listening to live jazz, this is the place to be. Festival in the Park is one of the most popular events in Charlotte, with over 100,000 people attending each year.
