Festivals and Events in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach has a lot going for it. Not only is it the most populous city in Virginia it’s also a resort destination. That means when you visit Virginia Beach you get all the culture and benefits of a city but with all the fun and relaxation of your favorite beach town. 

It’s no wonder that this area is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mid-Atlantic region. Beyond being a great place to visit in its own right, the city comes alive all year round with all sorts of festivals and events that draw people from all over the world. 

In this post, we want to share some of our favorite festival and events in Virginia Beach. From music to craft beer, you’re going to find something you love!

May: Atlantic Coast Kite Festival

Remember when you were a kid and loved bringing an awesome kite to the beach for hours of fun? Well, relive your glory days with the Atlantic Coast Kite Festival. Virginia Beach will become a sea of colorful kites. You can sit back and watch the action, or participate flying and try to win the best kite contest. 

June: North America Sand Soccer Tournament

Sand soccer is so popular that this annual tournament sees over 1,000 teams participating from all over the world. Now in its 25th year, both participants and spectators can enjoy fun, sun, and soccer. If you love the sport in all forms, be sure to check out the three day North American Sand Soccer Tournament each June.

September: American Music Festival

There are few events better to attend in person than a great music festival. So if you want to hit one of the best out there, check out the American Music Festival. This three-day live music event has been going on for 24 years, and features live performances from bands across the musical spectrum.

September: Neptune Festival

The Virginia Beach Neptune Festival has been held for almost 45 years! If you’re in the area during this time frame, you’ll find pretty much anything you want to do during this stretch. While the sandcastle competition is the big event, there’s also golf tournaments to parades, fireworks, and art shows to enjoy too.

October: Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival

Tasting different types of beers

Every October, local craft beer fans head to the Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival. This event features fifty different types of brews from over two dozen breweries. For two days, beer lovers from around the US (and the world) can enjoy unlimited tastings coupled with live music events. Don’t miss it!

 

December: Holiday Lights At The Beach

If you’re looking to escape the snow and cold around the holidays, why not consider spending a vacation wandering Virginia Beach admiring huge holiday light displays? If that sounds good, you’ll probably love the Holiday Lights at the Beach event. Held every year from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve you’ll see 50 displays over 10 blocks.
