When it comes to finding fun attractions across the United States, you need to look beyond the coasts. In fact, in Middle America, there are tons of awesome activities that can be the perfect attractions to bolster your vacation. 

If you’re planning a trip to the Midwest and looking for inspiration, you’re in the right place. 

In this post, we’re going to share with you some of our favorite fun attractions in Middle America that we know you’re going to love just as much as we do.

Lincoln Park Zoo

There are a million reasons to visit Chicago, it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, after all. But, one of the best draws to the area, especially if you’re traveling with kids, is the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Founded in the 1800s, it’s one of the oldest zoos in the country. And even better? It’s open 365 days a year and is free! Make sure you add this to your must-see attractions in the Windy City.

On your marks, get ready…go! Even if you aren’t a huge racing fan, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum is a can’t miss attraction in Indianapolis. 

Home to the world-famous Indy 500, you’ll learn all about the history of the track, check out some really cool cars, and you can even take a spin around the track on your own. Now that’s a bucket list item.

Cedar Point

If you love rollercoasters, then you don’t need to look any further than Sandusky, Ohio’s Cedar Point. It’s known as the ‘Rollercoaster Capital of the World for a good reason, it features nearly 20 different rollercoasters. 

Not only is Cedar Point the second oldest amusement park in the US, but it’s also won the award for the best park in the world 16 times. It has six rollercoasters over 200 feet high, so if you need that adrenaline rush, you know exactly where to go.

Looking for a perfect relaxing vacation spot that’s also a ton of fun in Middle America? Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks might just be exactly what the doctor ordered. 

With over 61,000 acres to explore, you can take the family hiking, fishing, and out on the lakes during the day. Or, if you want a couple’s getaway, there are many local wineries and breweries to explore on a night out. 

Grand Island

Grand Island, Nebraska is a special place. It’s prominently featured on National Geographic’s list of “greatest natural wildlife phenomena.” It’s home to migratory birds and butterflies, as well as bison too. 

But that’s not the only way to get your fill of natural beauty. Check out two local scenic byways; the Loup Rivers and the Sandhills Journey to see even more of this hidden gem. 

Regardless of where you decide to go, there is going to be no shortage of fun attractions in Middle America for you to explore. So, keep your eyes peeled and set aside some time to check them out!
