Are you a roller coaster fan?
Like, a really big roller coaster fan?
There are two places in America that are must visit spots for roller coasters: Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California and Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Both have just shy of 20 roller coasters each.
But only one has earned the nickname “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World” and that is Cedar Point. If you’re an adrenaline junkie who wants to experience the best, fastest, craziest, and most exhilarating roller coasters out there, Cedar Point has to be on your bucket list.
Let’s take a look at what they’ve got at the park.
Clearly, the biggest draw of Cedar Park has to be the roller coasters. With 17 different options to choose from, you could spend more than a few days there trying all the rides out.
The newest addition to the roller coaster family at Cedar Point is the Valravn. This is billed as the “tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the world.” It reaches a maximum speed of 75 miles per hour and has an epic 214 foot drop.
In 2015, Cedar Point unveiled Rougarou, which is a updated and upgraded design on top of the former Mantis roller coaster. The big draw of this coaster is that it’s floorless, meaning riders legs dangle as they go through the ride, which hits speeds up to 60 miles per hour.
Another of the more recent roller coasters is GateKeeper, this is one of the few winged roller coasters in the world. Not only does it hit a top speed of 67 miles per hour, but it also hit’s 4 G’s, which is more gravitational force than a space shuttle launch!
Even though the roller coasters are Cedar Point’s main draw, and probably the biggest reason why it’s the most visited amusement park in America, there’s actually plenty of other rides and activities for those who aren’t looking for too much of an adrenaline fix.
Cedar Point also has 17 different thrill rides, and you can find something for every level of thrill seeking that you are looking for. There is a carousel, bumper cars, and the Matterhorn for people who are looking for some of the more classic amusement park rides.
If you’re heading to Cedar Park with the kids, there are still plenty of rides for them too. Cedar Point has a section of the park that is specifically designed for families. These include a ferris wheel, gondola sky ride over the park, and a mini railroad.
Shows and Events
Cedar Point also features a number of shows as well from the stunt show All Wheels Extreme, to Luminosity light show at night, to a Snoopy Sing A Long during the day. There are also a number of shows and events that go on at the park as well, so certainly be sure to check and see what the schedule is for your visit.
But, most of all, have fun on your trip to Cedar Point! Have you been, what did you think? Let us know in the comments!
