“Travel is the only gift that money can buy that makes you richer.” -Unknown
Holiday gift giving can be both fun and challenging. Not only does it take time and energy, but it can be mentally exhausting as well. Certain people are simply difficult to shop for, especially when it seems they already have access to everything they could want.
Fortunately, there are some things that money can’t buy. Instead of gifting “stuff” this holiday season, why not share the gift of experience?
Whether your loved one is a frequent traveler or a first-time flyer, airline gift certificates are one of the best gifts you can give your special someone. By giving the gift of flight, you are empowering the beneficiary to escape every day life to explore a new destination. (Tip: Airline gift certificates may have some restrictions, including expiration dates and other limitations. Be sure to check with the airline before you purchase.)
Did you know Greyhound isn’t the only bus transportation option for cross-country travel? There are a variety of other options as well, including luxury coaches that provide lavish transportation experiences for riders. Red Coach, as one example, provides daily (and surprisingly affordable!) routes across the state of Florida. WiFi, reclining seats and other comforts are all included in the price of the ticket. (Tip: Avoid hassle by booking online in advance.)
There’s nothing worse than a gas light appearing when you least expect it. Gas cards are a great gift for adventure enthusiasts, frequent road trippers, or students with long commutes. Recipients will be able to stash it in their glove box for emergencies or use it right away to fill up their tank. (Tip: Gas stations vary by region. Before you purchase, be sure to confirm which gas stations are located near the person receiving the gift.)
Almost anyone could benefit from a restaurant gift card, but families with little ones will be especially appreciative. For couples, consider gifting them a certificate to the restaurant where they had their first date. (Tip: When in doubt, gift a certificate to a restaurant in their hometown. That way, even if they aren’t able to use it on their trip, they will have something to look forward to when they return.)
All aboard! Did you know that Amtrak travels to more than 500 locations across the country? Whether they’re on a girls’ weekend or heading out on business, your friends and family will surely enjoy the comfort and convenience of Amtrak. (Tip: Amtrak offers multi-day tickets in the form of rail passes, a perfect way to see the country by train.)
