When you think about Six Flags, a theme park comes to mind. Roller coasters, thrill rides, cotton candy, and live entertainment, what’s not to love, right?

But, the real question is, have you been to the original Six Flags, the Six Flags that started it all?

If the answer is no, it looks like you’ve something to add to your bucket list, a trip to Six Flags Over Texas.

In this post, we’re going to give you a quick guide to this park, and by the end, you’re going to be packing your bags and getting ready to go!

Park Overview

Six Flags Over Texas was first created in 1961. It’s in Arlington, Texas, basically right between Dallas and Fort Worth, so a very easy trip from either city. An interesting fact you might not know is that the name “six flags” refers to the history of Texas and the fact that six different nations that governed Texas at one time or another. You can also still find the six sections of the park that each represents one of these nations.

Rides

Ok, enough about history, what you really want to know about are the rides, right? Basically, when it comes to rides the park can be split into three categories: thrill rides, family rides, and kids rides. Let’s take a look at a couple of the most popular rides at the park.

For serious thrills, there are a few rides you have to experience, these include Titan which is the fastest and tallest ride in Texas, Shockwave, Superman: Tower of Power, and Texas SkyScreamer.

Now, for the people who want to be able to ride with their kids and maybe have just a little bit less thrill, then check out Harley Quinn: Spinsanity, Boomtown Depot, Roaring Rapids, and the Sidewinder.

Finally, Six Flags Over Texas doesn’t forget the kids. Be sure to let them enjoy their time at the park by taking rides on Bugs Bunny Boomtown, Looney Toons Adventure Camp, and the Texas Tea Cups.

All throughout the park, there are a number of spots that offer live entertainment in the form of full shows that you can sit down and watch, or a few minutes of fun with some of your favorite characters.
