Harry Potter Experience

Mega-fans of J.K. Rowling’s epic Harry Potter series were ecstatic when Universal Studios Orlando opened The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in June of 2010. If you haven’t made the pilgrimage yet, fear not; it’s only gotten better with time. Here’s a high-level look at the essential attractions and activities that will help you have a great time amongst the wizards and warlocks.

Hogsmeade is home to most of the fun, but you can easily hop on the Hogwarts Express to see what’s going on in Diagon Alley, too.

Rides

Thrill-seekers have plenty of rides to choose from over in Hogsmeade, including Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a new attraction that utilizes the latest technology to take you high above the park.

Looking for a good ol’ fashioned roller coaster? The Dragon Challenge packs a punch with not one, but two different coasters in one!

Though it offers a slightly tamer experience, the Flight of the Hippogriff coaster still promises plenty of twists, turns, and excitement.

You can also head over to Diagon Alley for the Escape from Gringotts ride, an epic adventure that will have you zipping through spooky underground vaults.

Shopping

You’ll obviously need proof of your magical journey for bragging rights back home … fortunately, there are plenty of places to grab some positively spellbinding souvenirs. Pop into to Dervish and Banges for official Hogwarts uniforms, and everything you need to play Quidditch! Filch’s Emporium is also chock-full of prop replicas, apparel, toys and stuffed creatures.

In the market for your very own magic wand? Ollivanders in Diagon Alley has got you covered. Your ensemble isn’t complete without a robe, which you can snag at Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions. Browse for furry friends or scaly creatures to take home at the Magical Menagerie.

Food & Drink

Of course, no trip to the Wizarding World is complete without a taste of the famous Butterbeer, which you can snag at Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. This restaurant also serves up hearty fare like shepherd’s pie and fish and chips. If that’s not your style, give Pumpkin Juice a sip or two. Grown-ups can enjoy some actual beer — the in-house microbrew — next door at the Hog’s Head Pub.

In Diagon Alley, fill your belly with British pub grub at The Leaky Cauldron, but make sure you save room for a sweet frozen treat from Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor for dessert.
