Mom doesn’t have to run off by herself to have an enjoyable or relaxing Mother’s Day. (Though, tempting.)
What matters most to her is, feeling loved and appreciated. And not having to cook or clean up after anybody! Inside this post are ideas for a kid-friendly Mother’s Day trip.
R&R
So, you want to take the whole family somewhere to celebrate Mother’s Day, but you don’t know where to go. That’s okay! You can make things special without ever having to leave your hotel room.
Score major brownie points from mom simply by choosing a hotel with room service, and a spa. On Mother’s Day morning, instruct her to stay comfy in bed, and order whatever she’d like from the breakfast menu. For an added touch, bring along your own flowers, breakfast in bed tray and homemade cards from the kids.
Mom’s love homemade cards – and coffee.
After breakfast, surprise her by sending her to the hotel spa you made reservations for.
If your hotel doesn’t have breakfast or a spa- don’t fret. Improvise. Take the kids out while she’s still in bed, and grab pastries from a local bakery. She will be just as grateful.
Water
If possible, take her someplace warm and tropical for Mother’s Day. They say if you have a crabby baby, place them in water. Well, the same is true for moms.
Let her lounge next to the pool, lake or beach like the sun goddess she is while the kids happily frolic about. The bonus is, they will likely wear themselves down, providing mom with her next gift: a possible early bedtime for everyone. That way she can finally read that book she’s been hanging on to.
Adventure
Take mom on an adventure. There are many kid-friendly options.
Visit a local museum. Go to the zoo. Plan a picnic. Rides bicycles together. Go out on a boat. Walk through a garden. See a play. Watch a movie. Sign up for a family-friendly cooking class. Or painting class. Find a nearby Farmer’s Market. Sample different treats at each booth. Buy her a one-of-a-kind trinket.
Dinner
End the night with dinner. If you have a hotel with a kitchen set-up, you can purchase groceries ahead of time and prepare a special meal right in your room. Afterward, head someplace special for dessert.
Or, if mom has her heart set on a particular restaurant, brave the crowd and go. Take table games or coloring books to entertain the kids before and after the meal so mom can enjoy her glass of wine.
But whatever you decide to do, and wherever you go- she’s just thrilled to be there with you. Have fun.
Happy Mother’s Day, moms!
