Just when you didn’t think it could get any better than a Netflix marathon on the couch, everyone’s favorite streaming service recently announced that you can now enjoy their offerings without the need for an internet connection.
That’s right; long flights, road trips, and boring bus rides will be a breeze now that Netflix has introduced the option to watch movies and TV shows offline. It’s pretty simple to do, too: just follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way to binging bliss.
1. First, make sure you have the most recent version of the Netflix app, since the offline functionality may not work on older iterations.
2. Log in and navigate to the section of the menu that says “Available for Download.” Unfortunately, not all Netflix titles can be saved to watch offline yet, but the company says that more are on the way. On the bright side, many popular titles are downloadable, like Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, and Narcos.
3. Select the “Download” icon next to the episode or movie you’ve decided to watch. To find your queue of downloaded media, just go to the main menu and choose “My Downloads,” which will pull up a list of everything you’ve saved.
4. Choose your desired show or movie, and watch away!
One thing to note: if you have enough room on your phone, tablet, or computer, you can change your settings to automatically save the downloads at a higher quality than the default for a crisper, clearer picture.
