Kid-Friendly Summer Dessert Recipes

By Kim Windyka • May 18, 2020 • Holidays

Make the long, hot, lazy days a bit more exciting with one of these easy treats that you can make with the little ones. Not only is it a great way to bond, but you’ll have some delicious results to show for it when you’re done!

Frozen Banana Bites

If you’ve ever had frozen bananas, you probably agree that they taste a lot like ice cream—plus, they’re healthier! These sweet and chocolatey snacks are a snap to make—all you have to do is slice some bananas, dip them in chocolate, nut or seed butter, toffee bites, and chill them. This recipe is a great place to start, and you even have some wiggle room to substitute other toppings instead of the toffee.

Funfetti Birthday Cookies

It doesn’t have to be anyone’s birthday to enjoy these colorful cookies, and they’re sure to add a pop of fun to the day. All you need are just a handful of basic ingredients—and some big rainbow sprinkles, of course. Make your own with this recipe.

Oreo Icebox Cake

No need to pop this one in the oven; no-bake icebox cakes are easy for everyone—and perfect for a hot summer day. With just three simple ingredients: heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and the cookies, you can whip one up for a summer barbecue in no time at all. Not a fan of Oreos? Substitute your favorite cookie! Get the recipe.

Raspberry Cheesecake Greek Yogurt Popsicles

These healthy, tasty pops are refreshing and super simple…plus, they only take 20 minutes to prepare. A coating of white chocolate and a graham cracker garnish add a little something extra. Find the recipe here.

Starfish S’mores

Put a fun, beachy twist on this classic fireside dessert, which incorporates graham cracker crumbs to mimic grainy sand (but just a bit tastier) and some edible googly eyes. Check out this recipe and video tutorial to start making your own.
