Northern Apple Festivals

By Emily Duty • September 27, 2021 • Events, Holidays

For many people across the country, Fall is one of their favorite seasons. It is a time when you can truly get a great sense of Americana in many parts of the U.S.

One of the best ways to really get a great feel of the Fall season and some of the quirky small towns traditions that celebrate it is to head out to some of the Apple Festivals.

Fall Time

For much of the Northern part of the country, Fall is prime apple picking season. And with that means an uptick in some of those fantastic festivals, featuring warm apple cider, apple pies, cider donuts and caramel apples, yum!

Some of the best Fall festivals to visit are Apple Fests. They are sprinkled throughout the country from late September through October. Here’s a look at a few of them.

Bayfield Apple Festival  (Bayfield, Wisconsin)

This apple fest in Bayfield, Wisconsin is one of the best in the country. It has been ranked as not only the best in Wisconsin, but one of the ten best in all of North America! This fest includes a parade, boat cruises, fine art exhibitions and plenty of delicious apple treats to try and take home with you.

Southington Apple Harvest Festival (Southington, Connecticut)

It’s hard to find a small town that feels more New England than Southington, Connecticut. And they give one of the best apple festivals around, with over 100,000 visitors heading to the area each year for the fest. The fest showcases fireworks, a bed racing content, parade, and apple contests. Plus, an arts and crafts showcase.

National Apple Harvest Festival (Arendtsville, Pennsylvania)

Going into its 57th year, this festival is one of the biggest in the country, held right outside Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This fest is spread over two jam packed weekends that include an Apple Queen, antique car shows, hayrides, orchard tours, chainsaw carving and baking contests.

These are some of our favorite apple festivals to visit in the Fall. What about you? Do you have any local festivals you love to attend once the seasons start changing?
