Romantic Valentines Day Trip Ideas

By Emily Duty • January 25, 2021 • Holidays

February 14th is fast approaching, and if you still haven’t settled on a romantic getaway with your honey, fear not. We’ve got some V-Day vacation suggestions that are sure to make for a sweet retreat.

Santa Barbara, California

This picture-perfect southern California spot has it all: sunshine, surf, and sophisticated dining and accommodations. Winter weather is ideal, with highs in the low 70s this time of year. Take a step back in time at Old Mission Santa Barbara, or stop and smell the flowers — literally — at Lotusland, a 37-acre botanical garden in the neighboring town of Montecito.

Sedona, Arizona

For true tranquility, look no further than Sedona. Relaxation is the name of the game here, with a ton of full-service spa resorts to choose from. Outside of the sauna, you can also work up a sweat on one of the many stunning hiking trails that can be found throughout the area. Not only is the red-rock terrain a sight to behold, but the beautiful views are just as memorable. Culture vultures can take in a wealth of art at any of the local galleries in town.

Burlington, Vermont

If you don’t mind chilly temps, Burlington provides a truly cozy and totally New England winter experience, complete with great opportunities for shopping and skiing. The city’s downtown is full of restaurants and bars that invite visitors and locals alike to come inside and thaw out on frigid winter nights. After dinner, take in a show at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts or go dancing at Red Square, one of the hottest nightspots in town.

Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida

On the other end of the spectrum, Sanibel and Captiva heat things up at any time of year. Famous for their high concentration of seashells, a relaxing walk on the beach can also become a treasure hunt in no time. There is also an abundance of outdoor activities, including biking, fishing, snorkeling, golfing, bird watching, and more.

Hilton Head, South Carolina

Another beachy option is this white-sand enclave just north of Savannah, Georgia. While the weather is relatively cool this time of year, that just means that there are fewer tourists, the seashore is less crowded, and your vacation will be all the more peaceful and romantic! Water adventures take center stage here: boat cruises, surfing, jet-skiing, parasailing, and paddleboarding are all popular choices.
