Every year, the best Chicago restaurants and bars gather in the Windy City’s iconic Grant Park to celebrate summer—and serve up some amazing food and drink. Complete with music and family-friendly activities, it’s always a favorite of both locals and tourists.
It’s completely free to attend, though to sample the cuisine and beverages, you’ll need to buy a package of 14 vouchers, which are $10.
For 2019, Taste of Chicago takes place July 10–14 and will feature more than 40 local vendors that will be there all five days. New restaurants this year include Brazilian Bowl, Lao Sze Chuan, The Cookie Crate, and Yvolina’s Tamales.

I hope to see you at this year's #TasteofChicago happening July 11th – July 15th at Grant Park. I'm one of the featured chefs participating in the "Save Room for Dessert" demonstration hosted by The Lifeway Foods Taste Kitchen on July 14th at 11:30 AM. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of my second cookbook, 'Mama’s Tea Cakes' (Kensington Books), I will be making tea cakes served with a cinnamon cream parfait. • • • • • • • #CityofChicago #Chicago #PulseofChicago #choosechicago #food #chef #foodblogger #desserts #teacakes #cookbooks #huffposttaste #huffpostgram #food52 #eatwell #livewell #summer #july #grantpark #vendors #LifewayFoodsTasteKitchen #fooddemonstration
Aside from the main event, there’s plenty to see and do. At the Lifeway Foods Taste Kitchen, you’ll see cooking demonstrations from both locally-and nationally-known chefs.
The impressive lineup of musical artists this year includes Courtney Barnett, India.Arie, and De La Soul, while the Goose Island stage highlights the best local bands like ODE, the Ivy Ford Band, and The Right Now. In the mood to dance? The daily Chicago SummerDance event gives attendees a one-hour lesson in dances like salsa, waltz, and two-step.
If you’re seeking a more upscale experience, check out the Taste Oasis, a plush lounge that offers hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and complimentary bottled water, plus a great view of the acts performing at the Petrillo Music Shell.
