Kids love helping out in the kitchen during Thanksgiving, especially when it’s dessert related. Here are some of our favorite Pinterest ideas that are fun but don’t require a ton of time or ingredients.
Everyone has to make the turkey cookie at least once growing up! It’s kid tradition. It’s so cute. You almost won’t want to gobble him up. But, you will! Again and again.
Any kind of homemade or store bought cookie (sugar, oreo, nutter butter etc.)
There are many different ways to make one and they’re all equally delicious. The easiest version is probably the oreo cookie. All you have to do is stuff the candy corns in the cream part of the cookie, so they’re sticking out. Afterward, you add some frosting to hold the eyes and nose in place, and voila!
Another variation is the sugar cookie (or cupcake). You can frost the whole thing, and then decorate away.

While you’re teaching your kids about the pilgrims and Indians and the very first Thanksgiving, you can put together some Indian Teepees. It’s a history lesson, craft and dessert are rolled into one.
Ice cream cone (Like Keebler’s Sugar cookie cones)
Chocolate chips and sprinkles for the base
Take the cone, add some chocolate frosting to the inside of the tip. Then paint the bottom with chocolate frosting also. Dip the bottom in the sprinkles and chocolate chips until the base is decorated all around. Place it on the paper plate, and then add pretzel sticks to the top.

If you’re feeling extra adventurous- or hungry- you can take it one step further by creating a dirt cup place to place your teepees on instead of the plain plate. Like seen in this post: https://www.icanteachmychild.com/teepee-dirt-cups/
Acorn Donut Holes
This is probably the easiest recipe of the bunch. Making it especially good for the little-little ones in your bunch. And they’re also the perfect bite-sized snack. Which means, they won’t spoil your turkey appetite.
Glazed donut holes
Chocolate frosting or Nutella
It’s easy easy as dipping the donut into the frosting, then into the sprinkles and adding a pretzel stick into the top.
