Shreveport is home to the countries biggest park that’s dedicated to roses. Visitors to the American Rose Center can wander over 115 acres and see over 20,000 rose bushes situated around fountains, sculptures, and gardens.
Shreveport Water Works Museum
The Shreveport Water Works Museum is also a National Historic Landmark. It’s free to visit and once there you can learn all about the journey of water as it flows from the river to your tap.
Davis Home Place
Do you know what you get when you combine a historical home from the early 1900s and ghosts? Welcome to the Davis Home Place. Call to set up a tour, and you’ll be able to see the house (and maybe more!).
Barksdale Global Power Museum
Not far from downtown Shreveport, you’ll find Barksdale Air Force Base. On the base, visitors can tour the Barksdale Global Power Museum and see vintage aircraft and learn the history of its men and women.
Sci-Port Discovery Center
The Sci-Port Discovery Center is focused on teaching people all about science, math, and technology. It has over 200 hands-on exhibits and programs. Plus it’s home to Shreveport’s Imax, planetarium, and children’s museum.
Betty Virginia Park
Even when you’re in a city, it’s nice to enjoy a little bit of greenery. The Betty Virginia Park provides all that and more. It’s over 20 acres of lush grass and trees. Visitors can have picnics, walk pets, or go for a run.
Louisana Boardwalk Outlets
If you love shopping, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to pick up a few things in Shreveport. The Louisana Boardwalk Outlets has over 60 stores and dining options right on the Red River.
Spring Street Historical Museum
The Spring Street Museum is a fun little gem of a museum that features all sorts of exhibits and artifacts that walks you through the history of Shreveport and the surrounding areas. And it offers free admission!
The city of Shreveport is about, 5 hours from New Orleans, 4 hours from Houston, and 3 hours from Dallas. For those flying into the city, the Shreveport Regional Airport services a number of major airlines and connects with major hubs in Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, and Denver.
