The weather is getting nicer, the flowers are blooming, spring is here and graduation season is upon us. Every year, from May to June, thousands of people graduate from high school, college, and graduate school.
After all those years of putting their noses to the books shouldn’t they get a little bit of special something for all that hard work?
We like to think so.
And what better prize for the favorite graduate in your life than a little getaway? This is the perfect time of year to pack the bags, take a few days away from the hustle and bustle of life, and relax with your friends and family on a mini grad getaway.
Let’s take a look at some of the top spots out there for an affordable break for the graduate in your life.
If you’re looking for a beautiful city that offers everything from sports to roller coasters to incredible nature, it’s hard to beat Denver. You and your grad can enjoy a Colorado Rockies baseball game one night, before heading out into the mountains for a quick day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park.
For the older grads in your life, Denver is a beer lovers wonderland. The city is famous for being home of Coors, which offers frequent brewery tours. And, with over 100 different brew pubs, dozens of breweries and a love of craft beer, you can take part in the Denver Beer Trail too.
New Orleans, Louisiana
Yup, New Orleans isn’t just for party goers anymore (though if you’re looking to have a good time, you will never be disappointed exploring the French Quarter). New Orleans in the spring is an absolutely beautiful time of year, and you’ll find plenty of incredible outdoor cafes to enjoy some of the famous food the Crescent City is known (and loved) for.
To tour some of the unique things New Orleans has to offer head over to Mardi Gras World, where you’ll find an amazing display of floats, the Voodoo Museum, or Preservation Hall for some of the best jazz music in the world. In New Orleans, you never run out of entertainment to enjoy!
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
For a hot spot that offers both relaxing sandy stretches of beaches and plenty of stuff to do, you can’t go wrong taking your grad to Myrtle Beach. Consistently rated on the Travel Channel as one of the top beaches in the US, you can see why so many people love flocking there.
Once you’re done relaxing on the beach, you can enjoy the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk where you’ll find live events almost every weekend. If your grad loves to hit the links, you’ll find over 100 golf courses that dot the area, many of which are award winning. Or, you can take in a number of water font activities like boat tours, kayaking, and deep sea fishing.
These are just three destinations that you’ll enjoy for a grad getaway this spring. What are some of your favorite destinations to check out in May and June, let us know in the comments!
