If you’re planning a trip with teens, what better place is there to take them to than New York City? It’s got a little bit of everything- art, culture, landmarks… pizza!
Iconic NYC
Like any other place you visit, there are specific things you have to see and do. In New York City you can’t visit and NOT eat a slice of pizza, see a play, tour a museum or stroll through Central Park.
Pizza
Start with the pizza. Your teen will thank you. What kind are you in the mood for?
A quick $1 slice? Head over to 9th Avenue Pizzeria
White sauce pizza? Find it at the Best Pizza
Vegan pizza? Shout “Oh yes!” at Screamer’s Pizzeria
Sicilian? You want Prince Street Pizza
The most New York style Pizza in New York? That’s debatable. But, Di Fara‘s has been around for over 50 years. They might know a thing or two.
Plays
There’s just something about going to see a play. Here you can find out what’s playing during your visit. Or you can try your luck on the Broadway Lottery, for discounted prices and giveaways.
Museums
NYC has some of the greatest museums. Not just in the United States but in the world!
Learning probably isn’t what your teen has in mind on vacation. BUT, many of them – including the Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art), Guggenheim, Museum of Arts and Design, The Frick, The New Museum and The Brooklyn Museum– offer special events specifically for teenagers throughout the year.
How cool would an all-teen overnighter be? They’d be doing fun, interactive experiments, all the while gaining new friends.
Central Park
Central.Park.is.gigantic; 843 acres to be exact.
There are many things for teenagers to explore inside; Gardens, walking paths, baseball fields, a skating rink, a carousel, an amphitheater, a zoo, and even a castle.
Awe-Inspiring
It’s no secret that teens tend to be a little…self-absorbed.
And that’s okay! Because it’s actually an important part of their development. Focusing on themselves now helps them learn more about who they are and what they want to be later on in life. But, that doesn’t mean they’re emotionless.
Breakthrough their tough exteriors with a few gentle reminders of just how big the world really is. Visit The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial.
Selfie-Time
You won’t want them glued to their phones during your entire trip. (A fair request!) But they’re still teenagers. That means they will require some kind of photographic proof of their incredible visit.
So, two more Instagram-worthy spots to add to your list are Times Square and The Brooklyn Bridge Park.
