In recent years, Music City has become a popular destination for New Year’s Eve, not only due to its abundance of bars and clubs, but also because of its star-studded NYE festivities that have put it on the map when it comes to a rockin’ good time.
The most important party is the the Bash on Broadway, which draws top talent like Kings of Leon and The Whigs and features a twist on the ball drop to reflect the city’s bread and butter. Instead, a red musical note descends from nearly 150 feet up, launching a burst of fireworks and confetti upon its landing at midnight.

The event will feature live music, fireworks, and the all-important countdown to 2016. High rollers head to the Big Night Chicago Gala, at the Palmer House Hilton hotel, or theWit, a rooftop lounge that boasts h’ors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and a champagne toast. Admission to either is a small fortune, but as the saying go, it costs to be cool, and you get what you pay for.
What better place to celebrate a brand new year than in a city known for its variety of live music? Sixth Street, where all the magic happens, is one big party, with numerous restaurants and bars to choose from. There’s no chance of getting bored with any given scene, and the diverse bands playing are likely to satisfy just about everyone’s tastes.
