Where to Spend Christmas in Florida

By Emily Duty • November 30, 2020 • Holidays

You might not think of Florida as a Christmas destination since it doesn’t experience cold or snowy winters. But don’t count it out as a vacation option just yet. Here are some things to see and do during Christmastime in Florida.

Take a carriage ride in St. Augustine

You’ve driven around and looked at Christmas lights before, but how many times have you done it from the inside of a horse-drawn carriage in the oldest city in Florida? Probably zero. Well, here’s your chance. Don’t miss out on one of the top Christmas light displays in the world.

Bundle up in Orlando, Florida

If you thought Florida couldn’t get freezing cold, you’re wrong. In fact, it dips down to about 9 degrees every winter at the Gaylord Palms Resort. Get bundled up and ready to admire some stunning, handcrafted ice sculptures. Plus, you can even go snow tubing. It’s all at their annual event called “ICE!”

Meet The Mouse in Orlando, Florida

Since you’re in the area- pop into Magic Kingdom and say hello to the famous mouse! Throughout November and December, there’s a Christmas celebration unlike any other. It’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, of course! And it does not disappoint. There you will enjoy live music and parades in the streets, stops with free cookies and cocoa, and even a visit from Santa himself.

Watch it snow in Celebration, Florida

The forecast says you can be sure to catch snow this December over in Celebration, Florida. And with a name like Celebration, you know it’s sure to be fun!

Go seaside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Take a boat ride or water taxi along the waterfront in Fort Lauderdale for a different kind of Christmas light viewing. During the tour, you will learn all about the history of the area as well as spot some celebrity homes.
